"Farm to Fork" Tesco Experience
9th Feb 2016
Mrs Hood's class were kindly invited by Tesco's to take part in their "Farm to Fork" tour. It was a very worthwhile and educational experience for Primary 1, 2 & 3. We had the opportunity to explore the aisles of Tesco's for a wide variety of fresh foods, many of which the children had never seen or even heard of before. Through a behind the scenes tour, we learned of where our food comes from and how it reaches our shelves. We found it fascinating to find out where all the food in Tesco's is stored. As you will see in our pictures we hand first hand experience of the large walk in fridges and freezers (no one volunteered to stay in there too long!!) We really enjoyed ourselves.... have a look through our pictures!
Megan and Zara kindly showed us around.
A sweet potato? Something Sienna had never heard of before.
Richard was keen to feel the weight of the butternut squash.
The heaviest fruit we could find turn out to be a water melon. Zara weighed it using the scales.
Our class couldn't be convinced into trying the Stilton!
Group 2 behind the scenes.
Leo and Alfie spotting various types of berries.

It looks cold in there!!

A quick exit from the freezer!

We discovered that fish have teeth!!

Break time! Now to sample all those lovely fruits.
