Happy World Book Day! So proud of our school community!
It's been such a fun and creative day at Dunclug Primary School with the amazing activities, competitions and costumes for World Book Day.
Our day started with an assembly from Mr Beacom encouraging us to consider the different places we can go to within books. We also heard about a girl called Mina UNICEF aged 9 from Afghanistan and discussed how fortunate we are to have thousands of books to enjoy & learn from!
Throughout the day, in all 10 classrooms we had pupils taking part in such brilliant reading activities! From quizzes to art work, drama to ict and creating movie/book trailers, from book reviews to book based structured play activities.
Children also took part in a school competition to decorate a paper plate as a book character or a favourite book. The School Council alongside the school kitchen staff had the tough job of judging all the fantastic entries. The winners were announced during our special Paddington Bear themed dinner - thanks to Angela and our superb kitchen staff for such a fun menu and providing brilliant themed prizes for our competition winners.
Overall, an amazing day at Dunclug Primary School and thanks to our super staff team, parents and carers for supporting this annual event that we celebrate the benefits of reading. So proud of our school community!!
